Summer Stuff That I Like

Sooo who hasn't blogged in three months??? Oh yeah...me. I have so much that I want to blog about in the future, and will probably be doing random posts about stuff from maybe four or five months ago. But to start, I have some summer items that I have gotten that I really like.

So the first thing I got is Cover Girl's Water Resistant Clump Crusher by Lash Blast in the color black brown. Because I just graduated high school, I have been going to a lot of graduation parties and cookouts in general because it summer!!!!  I have been outside and dancing a lot, and sweating because of the dancing. This mascara doesn't sweat off which happened with an old one I was using. It also withstands my bad habit of rubbing my eyes whenever I have on make up. The color looks a lot more soft and natural than just plain black so I feel like it's good for a casual, natural, look. It lives up to it's name too, it doesn't clump at all which is good because I hate clumps.

This one has to be my favorite. It's Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm. I actually like it better than the normal Burt's Bees because it's not as waxy and feels more moisturizing. It also adds a hint of color to lips that look dry, which I like as well. It livens them up a bit. I cannot go anywhere without it and I recently ran out of my "Hibiscus" Tinted one, which lasted for about four months. I immediately replaced with the color "Red Dhalia" which is a deeper reddish pink and I like it just as much. It's a good alternative to the Sugar Tinted Lip Balms by Fresh which I really liked, they were just so expensive. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm has a similar formula, more color variety, similar color saturation, and  much lower prices. The color isn't very saturated, which I like for just throwing it on whenever I want because I don't have to worry about how it looks.  It can also be worn with lip sticks and stains for a really nice touch. I use the packaging to store bobbi pins for dance.

I got these shoes from a store called Francesca's Collections, which is like a boutique style clothing and accessory store. They are really cute and are from the brand Sweet Life, by Dolce Vita. I believe they were around 40 dollars, but I got a discount. I wear them all the time, they are comfy, and can be dressed down as well as dressed up. I like the nautical themed stripes but they also had a pair in a nude color with the tan leather. They also have a small heel, so they are not completely flat which I think adds to their comfort.

These earrings are also from Francesca's. Each time I go into that store I want ALL if their accessories. They are reasonably priced and everything is exactly my style. They are a coraly-orange color with a gold frame, which I think is nice for summer. I have a lot of blues, and oranges in my summer wardrobe and I think the look nice with those colors.

The last item I got because I need new nail polish. Also I watch Girl Code on MTV(so hilarious), and they mentioned it in a little short that they did. It's Essie Nail Polish in the color Ballet Slippers. I also do ballet so the name kind of attracted me. It's a very light pink, in some light it looks white. I thought it was bright enough for summer, but could also be worn year round. It is really nice quality and only took me two coats until it was completely opaque. Normally, with these light shades I find it they are always so transparent. I really like Essie Nail Polishes, this is the first one I've tried *Gasp* I hope to add more oranges, blues, pinks, and corals for summer because I just really like to wear those colors in the summer. I feel like I keep mentioning that...

Do you have and favorite colors to wear in the summer? What are they?

Busy Busy

So I haven't really posted here in awhile, I've been meaning to but I just keep getting busier. I have been dealing with a lot of schoolwork, and college. I have to send in my deposit to a college by May 1st. That means I have spent this month researching, debating, and visiting different colleges. It has been a lot harder than I thought. This past Friday was also my prom, which was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if they have proms everywhere in the world, but it's basically a formal dance. The girls usually wear long gowns, and the boys wear tuxedos. I spent all last week making sure  had everything together for it, so that also kept me busy. I was thinking of doing some fun prom posts though. Lastly, my camera has been causing me some problems, so hopefully I can get that sorted out. Well those are all my excuses for not posting at all his month, but I'm finally not as busy anymore :)

Coconut oil recipe #2: Shaving

I meant to post this awhile ago, but I forgot I never did, typical me.

What you will need:
Coconut oil
A Razor(preferably not a dull one)

This one is really easy too. I decided to do this after my shower, because it is important to make sure your legs are wet. I then just took some of the oil and put it on my legs like shaving cream. They felt very slick. Then, I just shaved my legs like normal, but be careful because it can be slippery. I ended up getting a very clean shave, and my legs never felt smoother or more moisturized. It's been about a week and my legs are still extremely smooth. So, if you ever run out of your favorite shaving cream, and you have coconut oil, definitely give it a try(you may just find a new favorite). I also use it as a full body moisturizer occasionally, by applying it to wet skin. Oils typically provide moisture, by trapping moisture in. However, coconut oil is compatible with our skin's natural oil. Therefore, it can be absorbed into our skin, and trap moisture. I hope this little bit of information helps! If you have any questions, let me know!

Coconut Oil "Recipe" #1: Nails

After obtaining a jar of coconut oil, I have found that it has amazing affects. In my previous post, I listed some of the great thing coconut oil can do. I have also heard how people have used it to cure all of these different things that were wrong with them. I know coconut oil is not magic(unfortunately), and there has to be some explanation behind it. Therefore, I am researching more about it and trying out new ways to use it. I will be posting about it on my blog as I learn more.

The first thing is, nails. I put recipe in quotations, because it's not really a recipe. It comes straight from the bottle. Basically, just like you would get a lip balm from a pot, you get the coconut oil from it's jar. then, simply massage it into your nails. Our body's natural oils respond well to coconut oil, and soak it right up. So, your nails won't feel greasy afterwards. Just like your skin and hair, you nails need moisture too, and the coconut oil helps with that. Another thing you can do is massage coconut oil into your nails, then put on your base coat, polish, and top coat. Nail polish has a tendency to dry out your nails, which contributes to lack of growth. The coconut oil serves as added protection and keeps your nails healthy, moisturized, and strong. I have been using the coconut oil daily for a week now, and I will post a before and after picture when they have fully repaired. If you already have long nails, using coconut oil can help you maintain them. This is a good easy way to start using coconut oil, and I will get into some stuff that involves heavier explaining soon. I don't want to give out any false information.

Coconut Oil is Amazing

So, I recently picked up something called coconut oil, and my original plan was to use it for my hair. However, I found out that coconut oil can be used for just about anything. I also haven't heard a bad thing about coconut oil yet Here is a list of some of the things people use coconut oil for.
-Shaving
-Hair Care
-Nail Care
-Dieting
-Teeth Whitening
-Make Up Remover
-Acne Treatment
-Light Sun Protection
-And More(you can use it for just about anything, I'm not kidding!)

I haven't tried all of the methods used to for the different things is the list. However, I have made a hair deep conditioner using coconut oil, and it made my hair extremely soft and shiny. I also added it to my other  homemade hair products. I use it on my nails, which are very thin, and brittle, and never grow past a certain point. I have noticed that they are growing faster, getting stronger, and are repairing themselves. I also use it as a nightly moisturizer for my face, it doesn't feel like it clogs my pores. My skin also feels extremely soft, looks a lot better, and my blemishes are fading. I can't say much about it now, as I haven't used it for very long and I am still doing research. However, I have experienced great results so far. I will definitely put up some coconut oil recipes and methods if you want me to, and I can go into detail about some of the different uses coconut oil has.

Here is the jar I own, I picked it up at my local Whole Foods grocery store. You want to make sure it's unrefined, so it doesn't loose any of the good stuff in it. One thing I know, is that coconut oil contains large amounts of lauric acid, which is known to be highly anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal. In the jar, it is a harder consistency and it is white. When you rub it around in your hand, it melts instantly and becomes clear. It also smells delicious, not like typical coconut fragrance at all, it's hard to explain but I love it. If you decide to use coconut oil, make sure you won't be allergic.

Martha's Vineyard

`So I found out that my family and I are going on vacation on Martha's Vineyard this summer. Martha's Vineyard is a island belonging to Massachusetts. We went during the summer before my Freshman year, and the summer before my Sophomore year. However, we weren't able to go again, until now!! I absolutely love it there, we always go with my grandparents, my aunts, uncles, and cousins, from both my mom and my dad's side. Family friends also came with use the last time we went. Because Martha's Vineyard doesn't really have hotels, it is customary to rent houses, so we get a huge one and we all stay in it together. You could also decide to stay at a bed and breakfast. We drive up to Woods Hole Massachusetts, which is a cute little town, and take a ferry over to The Vineyard. There is space for cars on the ferry, so we bring ours in order to drive around. Martha's Vineyard is so beautiful and peaceful it makes you want to be outdoors. There are so many places to bike around and explore, and we are often having a barbecue outside and playing games. There is also the delicious breakfast diner called, Art Cliff's. They don't take reservations, so you have to get there early enough to beat the wait, but the pancakes are completely worth it. There is delicious ice cream at every ice cream parlor, and a place called back door doughnuts, which sells some of the freshest most delicious doughnuts I have ever tasted. We have stayed in Edgartown, and Oak Bluffs(which is famous for their gingerbread style houses and flying horses carousel). I believe every town in Martha's Vineyard has it's own town center, with shops, restaurants, and galleries, quaint movie theatres, and a lot more. We also make out way down to Menemsha beach, which is famous for it's amazing view of the sunset. I feel like I am advertising Martha's Vineyard, but it is truly one of my most favorite vacation spots, and I am just so excited to be going again. I will put some pictures below from my last trip to The Vineyard. A lot of them have my family in them, I'm not too sure how comfortable they would be with being on the internet. So, I will try to get a lot of pictures when I am there this summer of everything I mentioned in this post and more!

Enjoy the little preview(there are a lot of pictures from when we went to see the sunset):

I hope you enjoyed the pictures. I promise there is so much more to see, so I will definitely be putting up more this summer. Thanks for reading!!!

Bedroom Beauty Challenge: Love

So here is my attempt at the bedroom beauty challenge from Louise/Sprinkle of Glitter. It was pretty fun to do! Here is a link to the challenge. I'm not very good at makeup, so this gave me a chance to practice. Please excuse my hair, it was a long day at school. I also haven't done it properly all week because I need to get healthier products for my hair, which I can finally do this weekend. All the products I currently own(Shampoos and Conditioners etc.) were stripping my hair of it's moisture and preventing it from gaining new moisture. That being said, I have worn it in a bun(a very messy one) all week, which I'm really getting tired of. Here is a link to Louise's Blog, you should definitely check her out if you haven't heard of her yet, I love her. She also has a youtube channel, which is the same as her blog name.

Since February's theme is Love, I tried to do a warm look with pink on my eyes and cheeks and lips. I also did a bit of a winged eyeliner, just because I liked the way it looks. I really Detest taking selfies, so I spent a very long time trying to get an acceptable picture haha. Please excuse my ugly bathroom wall, it's going to be redone soon :)

Here is a picture of all the products I used, with descriptions down below. Sorry about the quality of the photo.

Eyeshadow: Both MAC, I can't read what the pink one is but the are both frosts and the other one is called, VEX. I used the pink one on my cheeks as well.
Eye Primer: It's a MAC paint pot in Rubenesque
Foundation: It's more a of a build able powder, than a foundation. It's MAC Studio Fix in the tone, NW43.
Mascara: I need a new one, this one is getting old and clumpy but it's Lancome's Definicils High Definition Mascara
Brows: I use this to keep my brows straight, it also softens them a bit, because the color is brown and my eyebrows look more black. It's MAC's Brow Set in the color, Show-Off.
Brushes: The double ended brushes are from CVS, my local drugstore. They are by essence of beauty. One is blending and eyeshadow, the other is blush and powder. The last brush is the MAC 252 brush, it's an eyeshadow brush.

I forgot the lipstick in the photo but it's Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in the Pearl finish. It's the color 150, Cocoa Bronze. I just put some lip balm on top to make it lighter, it's a really dark color. I also forgot the eyeliner, it's the Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Black.

One very awful mirror pic of me. However, you can sort of see my red nail polish which I thought fit into the love theme. It's by Estee Lauder in number 90, Red Hot. It was a gift from my Grandma :) you can also see part of the wall in my room, with some of my artwork from earlier years, and half of my dog sitting on my gym bag.
